Zombie

Who doesn't love Rob Zombie?

Unsafe people envy the successful and work to degrade, denounce and destroy them.

Eurovision Song Contest Finals

I wrote these as I watched the Eurovision finals:

Bosnia – undoubtedly very appealing for fans for this genre – but – sucking the life outta me – went to kitchen & made more coffee

Spain – love the tune, love gay little wiggles; are these guys available for Canadian dance parties?

Belarus – great visuals – not fussy about the song but dang, kudos to the choreographer

Ireland – listen, I love this, a great celtic tune, but – why pick Irish Spring for a shot at the title?

Finland – OH YEAH WINNER (oops, don’t announce this until the end, right?) Visuals, voice, lyrics, rhythm, music OH YEAH WINNER

FYR Macedonia – good presentation and great crowd support even though I don’t consider this a rockin’ song

Slovenia – fabulous vocals, great stage presence even though opera ain’t my thang

Hungary – good blues tune, great blues presentation

Lithuania – love the visuals in this presentation, they are very supportive of the song

Greece – sorry the lead singer was having sinus problems for this performance; what ills befell the choreographer that prevented any design or practice?

Georgia – um, no thanks

Sweden – I am such a pushover for drag songs – love the costuming and great voices and group dynamics

France – oh my dear gord, is jerry lewis their idol?

Latvia – three tenors, no waiting – no, wait, I mean, no thanks, Lloyd Weber

Russia – they rock and would have scored higher except for that whole creepy pedophilia factor that overshadowed the entire performance

Germany – retro – we get it – if you’re doing something to make me thing of years gone by, you might want to avoid singing in the language of the country that is generally accepted to be the impetus for WWII – just a thought – especially when the song’s lyrics include “guess who rules the world”

Serbia – how did Rosie O’Donnell get on this show? Oh. I get it. It’s a gay/lesbian thing. Okay. Now that I get it, and clearly I am the stupidest person on this planet, do you think it’s possible to move on and rely on your voice instead of banking on shock value?

Ukraine – I’m sure that, once television is more widely distributed throughout this area of the world, the musicians will update their – everything

United Kingdom – let’s face it, the only reason this group got into the finals is because they list the names of several European countries in this sad excuse for a song – how, in the name of all that is musical, did this get into a multinational music awards show?

Romania – pick a theme and stick with it – Village People, pop, ethnic, straight, queer – one theme, people, one theme

Bulgaria – where can I buy their album? Great visuals, great presentation, language of music is universal, gotta love em!

Turkey – how did this country get into a European music award show? I guess because Justin Timberlake & Shakira’s love child is European? My newest charity is collecting hair brushes to send to Turkey

Armenia – missed the memo that ballads are not ‘in’ this year

Moldova – very nice, love the presentation, with a little work they’ll be serious contenders (I’m a real talent spotter, as I’m sure you all know – you can tell by the men I bring into my life)

Music Maestros

Bummer. Rostropovich died. Sure, he was 80, and you hear all the "He lived a full life" stuff, and I'm sure he did, but I'll miss his music and inspiration, all the same.

I find music and inspiration intertwine. Hard to relax listening to heavy metal (or a lot of classical). Recently I, your living dead girl, treated myself to a complete Rob Zombie CD, on sale (Hellbilly Deluxe). Crank that sucker up at work and watch me be productive (in part, I'm sure, because people tend to stay away from my office, and because I can't hear the phone ring). For a pleasant change, I left work before 10pm on Friday. Gotta love Rob Zombie! Also Finger Eleven (rock royal!), Nickelback (they are surprisingly attractive in person), Blood Royal, Inner Surge (don't tell anyone they're from Calgary, eh?), Razor (still great), Kataklysm ("Revenge is a meal best served cold") ah yes

Gorddang, I am lovin' rediscovering my personality.
