People, People, People

Further to Sunday's rant, An open letter to Canadians.

NRW, who ever you are, I don't give a rats ass about your opinion! If you want to believe the Liberal spin on everything that is your right, just like it is my right to want to Separate Alberta from the rest of Canada, Since I don't believe that you have read any of my other posts, I will give you a quick update on me.

I was born and raised in Montreal, left in '79. Spent the next 20 years living in  Toronto. Moved to Edmonton 7 years ago, and was never really interested in politics till the last Federal election, where, because of the assholes from the East, I became a Separatist.

I was shocked and dismayed at the thought that people would re-elect a government that had allegations of corruption leveled against it, and this was before the bombshells of the Gomery inquiry. If the people of eastern Canada are stupid enough to believe the bullshit coming from the mouths of the Liberal party via the media, without taking the time to think for themselves, then maybe, in my opinion, and I am not alone. Then the time has come to look at other alternatives.

In speaking to members of the Separation Party and other Albertans, I have found out that there have been attempts to get the Federal government to change. Nothing has worked.

Why would the Federal government and the East want to change the way that things are running?

You get Alberta to pay into Ottawa, you ignore what we want and have to say, and as a previous PM of Canada so eloquently  put it, you give us the finger.

And you want to know why we want out?

Every government may have had its share of scandals, but this is the worst one, ever. Every Canadian should be appalled at the levels that the Liberals are willing to go to to hold onto that little bit of power.

Pm [squared] wants us to believe that it was only a few members of the Liberal party, maybe it was, maybe it wasn't, but we do have "gang laws" here in this country, and as such, IMHO, the whole Liberal party is and should be painted with the same brush.

The asshats in Ontario and the MSM want us to wait for the end of the Gomery inquiry, like good little Liberal soldiers. Well I for one, and again I am not alone in my thoughts,

DO NOT WANT AN ALLEGED CORRUPT LEADER LEADING MY COUNTRY!

If you want that alleged corrupt leader, leading your country, fine with me, that is your right. I will do what has been done on playgrounds for a long time. I will take my ball and bat and go home. And that is about what this amounts to. Alberta has been a net contributor to Canada, with no return on its investment for a very long time ( I have already done the research, you go and do your own).

Lets see how Ontario, and the rest of Canada, fares with out the money that Alberta sends in every year.

Or, like my previous rant, what are YOU willing to do to change things?

If you are not willing to write letters to your MP, MLA, the PM, and your premiere, asking for changes. If you are not willing to get involved in the next Federal election to get changes implememted, changes that will keep the country together.

Then STFU.com.

I am not interested in listening to your opinion!

Comments

Well you have both said you dont care about my opinion yet also asked what I am willing to do in the same post, so I am not completely sure exactly what you expect.

Calling me a Liberal because I happen to have national pride is the first mistake. I dont know if it is just because you feel that only a Liberal could be upset at a seperatist, but that just isnt the case. While you are incorrect regarding my position on the political spectrum, it really shouldnt matter when dealing with issues of dismantling Confederation.

You shout about Ontario taking all of Albertas money and giving nothing in return, however Ontario is in a very similar position as Alberta. We pay more into the federal government than we ever get back.

While you cannot use only the Federal Transfer Payment system to judge exactly what a province puts in and gets out of the federal government, in 2005, Alberta gets exactly 1 dollar less per capita than Ontario does. The majority of extra transfer payments goes to the maritimes and the territories. I dont hear you complaining about how Nova Scotia takes Albertas money, but the $1486 and $1487 Alberta and Ontario get per capita doesnt compare to the $2793 and $3111 that Nova Scotia and New Brunswick get.

The results of the last federal election were a shock to all Ontario conservatives. We couldn't understand after the way both the Federal and Ontario Liberals have treated the citizens of Ontario that they would have any support.

However that was not the case, and you ask alot of the same people who were disgusted by adscam, and disgusted by the McGuinty governments daily lies, and the only answer they could give regarding why they still supported the Liberals was that they were scared of what would happen should Harper become Prime Minister.

To me that makes it obvious that having a corrupt to the core Liberal party doesn't matter if you can't convince both the voters in the western provinces, Ontario AND Quebec, that there is a viable alternative. In Ontario people will run to the Liberals no matter what they do, and in Quebec they now run to the Bloc.

But that still doesnt have much to do regarding my previous comments about your decision to give up on Canada. More on that later.

What exactly do you expect from Ontario? Do you want an ultimatum of "You elect who we want you to or we will leave?" Well that doesnt seem to be working when Quebec does it, what makes you think its going to work in Alberta?

You cant force something like that on other people. You have to win over the voters, you cant just badmouth them and then demand their support because the Liberals are crooks.

But you aren't willing to do that. You seem to want to take the easy way out, which is ignoring the fact that Canada is a country with multiple distinct groups, and each group is going to have to be represented by the CPC to be effective.

Ontario has an overinflated sense of importance of their place in Canada, but that is based on the fact that 40% of Canadas population lives there. That alone makes it important from a political standpoint.

I spent the entire election campaign last year trying to tell my local candidate, and the other Ontario candidates that the voters in Ontario were not understanding the CPC platform, and instead of making daily attacks on subjects that people in Ontario didnt really care about, such as gay marriage, that their time should be spent breaking down every media lie , and every Liberal scare tactic, and spending just as much time trying to show Ontario voters that the new CPC was not only a merging of candidates, but the merging of ideas from all Canadian conservatives. Because more time was spent on calling the Liberals crooks, rather than showing how much more in tune to ALL of Canada the CPC was, when it was time to cast their votes, they went with the crooks, because they didnt have a good understanding of what voting CPC would result in.

The Liberals cannot lead Canada. Everyone knows this. It is time to stop saying that, and start telling Canada about how the CPC platform is going to change Canada, going to reach out to the West, Ontario, and Quebec in EQUAL parts. Forget about just saying the CPC wont steal money like the Liberals had, push the platform out to everyone all the time. The platform exists. Those of us who support the party 100% already know it, but the platform is not being shown to the rest of Canada, except for small parts. Forget about gay marriage for now, nobody really cares. Push the platform that makes Canada better. Beat into every voters skull that the CPC is not better because they are morally superior to the Liberals, they are better because they will make Canada better.

I have been home for 90 minutes after spending 14 hours in the waiting room of the Peel Memorial hospital. All I thought about while I was sitting there watching the room fill up with people who had also been there for hours was that the average Canadian knows nothing about the CPC health platform other than the scary things the Liberals keep saying about tearing it down. This may be why I am focusing alot more on platform than the seperatist issue, so please allow me a bit of leeway there.

I do make a constant effort, and I have bit my tongue on multiple occasions over the last 18 months to not badmouth the CPC , because I felt thats not what it was needed, but I find it alot more difficult to do that now. And I still believe in the party, I just dont think enough has been done to win over the previous supporters that the PC's had in Ontario and Quebec. I am not asking for Western Canada to bow to the demands of Ontario, I am just asking for a little more effort into winning over Ontario and Quebec, rather than supporting the Bloc in any way shape or form, because those votes the Bloc is getting used to be alot more PC votes than Liberal votes.

The only reason why Western, Ontario, and Quebec conservatives have slightly different viewpoints, is because each region is slightly different. We have the same basic values, we wish for the same things in general, with some minor differences. You grew up in Quebec and Ontario, and now live in Alberta, I grew up in rural Manitoba and now live in Ontario. But I am willing to bet that our value system is almost identical. Our problem is not with each other, our problem is with the Liberals.

Your hatred for Ontario should be directed at the Liberals and the Liberals only, but you seem to be lumping the entire province into the same boat, because of the corrupt way the country has been run for the last 15 years. You shouldnt ever think thats the only way to go.

Your goal seems to be that the country is not governed by a party whose power is only in Ontario, and is only interested in keeping those voters in Ontario, and bribing Quebec any way they can. I dont know why you feel that removing Alberta from Confederation is the only way that is possible, especially after seeing that the PC's under Mulroney had support of almost all of Canada. Working together to gain back those supporters would result in the ruling party of Canada again being a party that had the interests of all of Canada in mind, and not just Ontario, and almost all of your complaints with Albertas current position in Canada would disapear.

The difference between what you are doing right now and what I am doing, is that you are trying to do what you think is right for only Alberta, and what I am trying to do is create an outcome that is right for all of Canada.

NRW: I hope my comments survive this time :) I am interested in what you say even though it may appear we have opposing views. Rather than condense my thoughts into the time I have left this evening, I shall return (within a few days) with a more detailed response.
