An enviromental rant

I was watching TV yesterday, it was a show about the New York subway system, about how good it is, how big it is, you know the usual American bullshit. The subway cars have a life expectancy of, if memory serves me, 25 years. Over that time frame they will have new motors, and wheels put in to them every 3-4 years. And you would think that with all the talk of recycling and concerns for the environment, that the cars would be taken apart and melted down to make “new things", once their usefulness had expired, BUT no, they are taken off the coast of North Carolina, again if memory serves me, and dropped into the ocean, to form new reefs.

I am not a tree-hugging environmentalist, just a concerned citizen, who tries to do what I can at home here, and this just boggles the mind. Why do I have my government trying to sell me on the one tonne challenge, when this kind of thing is going on?

A couple of quick funnies

A clock in Heaven

A liberal Senator died and went to Heaven, as he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a HUGE wall of clocks behind him, he asked "what are all those clocks?"

St. Peter answered, "those are lie-clocks, everyone on Earth has a lie-clock. Every time you lie, the hands on your clock will move."

"Oh" said the Senator, "whose clock is that?"

"That's Mother Theresa's, the hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie."

"Whose clock is that?"

"That's Abraham Lincoln's clock, the hands have only moved twice, telling us that ol' Honest Abe only told 2 lies in his entire life."

The Senator asked, "Where's Chretien's and Martin's clocks?"

"Those clocks are in Jesus's office," replied St. Peter

"He's using them as ceiling fans"

Q. How can you tell a Liberal is lying?

A. Their lips are moving.

A Liberal rant

AM I MISSING SOMETHING ?

I just really don’t get it, here we are in the middle of the biggest scandal to hit Canadian politics, and there is still support for the party who is at the heart of the scandal, namely the Federal Liberals. I am not going to get into the juicy details of the scandal, you must be aware of it’s impact by now, plus the fact that there are so many blogs out there all reporting on it, here are links to some of the ones that I read on a daily basis:

http://www.polspy.ca/

http://stupidangrycanajun.typepad.com/

http://www.montesolberg.com/blog.htm

http://angrygwn.blogspot.com/

http://debbyestratigacos.mu.nu/

http://www.nealenews.com/

http://www.bluemapleleaf.blogspot.com/

These are some of the blogs that I read for information and the editorial comments from the owners of the blogs, then of course I take the time and go and read the sources for the comments.

One of the things that still astounds me is the polls that say that the Liberals still have a “fairly good percentage of support”

http://erg.environics.net/news/default.asp?aID=577

Not only that but that support could be enough to put the Liberals back into power again, What does it take for the citizens of Canada to see the Liberal Government as a bunch of crooks, that are only looking out for their own interests, and the interests of their closest friends and allies?

I recognize that you, the voters of Upper Canada (read Ontario), are not interested in having a government in place that will take away some of your “prestige, power”, maybe even do something like reform the electoral system, call it what you will, but are you really willing to keep a bunch of crooks and thieves in power?

I was born and raised in Quebec, and when the Parti Quebecois first came into power and were talking about separating from Canada, we, like a bunch of others left. We didn’t want to be separated from the rest of Canada, we thought that keeping Canada together was something worth fighting for. It is now almost 30 years later, and I have changed my mind, I am a member of the Separation Party of Alberta, and I am trying to figure out what I can do to help Quebec to separate, and at the same time, to help Alberta leave confederation.

I am now a firm believer in the theory of DEMOCRACY, true DEMOCRACY. We the Canadian people sometimes get annoyed with “outside influence” (or at least our leaders appear to), in the elections of other countries, well isn’t the Government of Canada meddling in the affairs of Quebec? What gives them the right to meddle in the Democratic affairs and processes of Quebec? If our government was truly interested in Democracy, then they would let the people of that Province decide whether or not they wish to continue in Confederation. And only become involved with making sure that a “true Democratic” process is followed.

138 years ago, the country we now called Canada was formed, probably with the idea of forming a strong nation, with the equal participation of “ALL” citizens and areas of the land. That idea has been changed so much that it no longer resembles the original.

Who do we have to thank for this mess? Successive governments that were only looking out for their own best interests, instead of looking out for the interests of its citizens. Because of these changes that are not in the best interests of our citizens, there are now some forward thinkers that are trying to opt out of this arrangement. Quebec and Alberta come immediately to mind, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia had a hissy fit and Paul Martin, our illustrious PM [squared] relented and gave them what they wanted.

Which brings us back to the Gomery inquiry and the mess that this country now finds itself in. The Liberals figured that since it had the “mandate of the people” to try and keep Quebec in confederation, and that large sums of money were going to be used to coerce the people of Quebec to stay in confederation, that a few million here and a few million there were not going to be missed, and hey, just like anybody, they needed the money to stay in power, so why not line their pockets with some of the money, and if there was “an uproar” made about the amount of money being spent on “SPONSORSHIP”, then they could say that there were cost overruns and we the sheep would believe them. Furthermore, the people involved in “the payback scheme” wouldn’t be stupid enough to complain about what was happening, after all what about the “honour among thieves code”, you know the one where no one bites the hand that’s feeding them.

So what went wrong, I am not sure, maybe someone became jealous of the amount of money going to “the next guy” and not to him, maybe some “professional jealousy” about the amount of “supposed” business going to the next ad agency and not to “my” agency, because you know “I” too am a great believer in the idea of Canada and “I” want some (read all) of that business, “I” have bills to pay and a family to support too.

Just so you know, I really don’t know what went wrong, hell I don’t understand the amount of support that the Liberal party of Canada has. All I know is that “something went terribly wrong” and we now have the Gomery inquiry, we also have our “illustrious” PM [squared], saying “I am not a crook” (does this sound familiar?), I knew nothing about what was happening (I was only the Minister of Finance at the time), it was some “low level people”, and when we find out who the perpetrators are, well they will surely be tried as criminals, and punished as such. Don’t paint all of the Liberal party with the same brush (only I can do that against the scourge from hell, namely the Hells Angels motorcycle club of  Toronto).

And this “spin” on the story is working with “some of the people” (namely the ASSHOLES from Ontario, and maybe some of the people of  the Maritimes, maybe with some of the “new arrivals” in our country as well, who think that the Liberals are their saviours, after all, it was and is the Liberals who are “allowing” all their relatives into our Country to vote for them). And just to make myself clear, (in case there was some doubt), I am not one of the “people” who believe that the Liberals are innocent, that someone was using their name to defraud the people of Canada, as far as I am concerned, the Liberal party, after Mr. Gomery has finished his “investigation” into the “sponsorship scandal”, and he has had the opportunity to table his report, “Then and only Then, IF and only IF” there is sufficient evidence to bring criminal charges against “certain” members of the Liberal Party, then I think that charges should be brought against the Liberal Party as well, after all we have “gang laws” in this country, that is how PM [squared] is painting and going after the Hells Angels motorcycle club of Toronto (and no I am not now or have ever been a member of the Hells Angels, I am just a person who believes that “all” laws should be applied fairly across the board). Once again I am not alone in my thoughts, one of the “Senators in waiting” from our great province of Alberta is saying the same thing: here are links to his sites:

http://www.citizenscentre.com/index.html

http://www.anticorruption.ca/

You can say that he is just throwing a “hissy” fit because he and the rest of the “elected” senators from Alberta were not appointed by PM [squared], or maybe he really has the best interests of Canadians in mind (unlike the Liberal government), you decide.

There are more thoughts going round in my head that I won’t even bring to the table, thoughts that I am sure would result in “some form of investigation” into my character if I were to write about them, and I am quite sure that I am not the only one with these similar thoughts, but one thought that I will share with you.

Has anyone thought of what passport our PM [squared] has?

I mean this is the same guy who as “captain” of Canada Steamship Lines, will not register “his” ships in Canada, (for details about this and other Liberal scandals see: http://www.tribil.com/scandals.html) (probably has something to do with “safety” issues and “employment” issues, and has nothing  to do with avoiding paying Canadian taxes, I mean after all he is PM [squared]).

Tonight at 7:45pm EST, that is 5:45pm in Alberta and 4:45pm in BC, and, well the rest of you can figure it out for yourselves, though in Nova Scotia, it should be at 8:45pm. Our illustrious PM [squared] is going to give us a talking to, it is not going to be a long talking to, only 6 minutes, there will be no question period after, just 6 minutes of listening to the story that he, Paul Martin wants us to believe. (gee if it was only 2 minutes longer, it could be the missing 8 minutes from the Watergate tapes). I for one will be glued to the TV to hear the “words of wisdom” from our “esteemed” leader. No, I will not be running to my computer to post the “gist” of what was said right after the broadcast, there will be enough of that happening from other sources (see the blog roll above, and check the major news feeds). I will however at some time in the future, report on what I think was said (my thoughts and a buck and a half will buy me a coffee).

The leader of the separation party of Alberta,( http://www.separationalberta.com/) has come out on a Hamilton radio station and has advised the people of Ontario, that a vote for the liberals in the next Federal election will result in a stronger separatist movement in Western Canada, here is a link to what he had to say:

http://www.separationalberta.com/news/news_item.asp?NewsID=209

There is already talk that this scandal has given the separatists in Quebec more momentum than what they have had in the past, not too bad for a party that was against Quebec separating and destroying their beloved country, and taking away their reason d’etre.

One of many EXTREMELY sore points for me was watching the citizens of Krygyzsan protest their corrupt government, and they have forced an election in their country , and I somehow don’t think for a minute that their level of corruption is as bad as what we are talking about here. Another protest in the world that caught my attention was the people of Taiwan protesting what the Chinese had “said” they were going to do to the country if some event in the country happened (sorry I don’t remember all the details), I only remember that there was a LARGE protest with about a million people, including their president or whatever their leader is called.

Maybe the time has come for some civil disobedience on the part of the Canadian people, realizing that there are some “great” distances between the regions of Canada, and people do have to earn a living, maybe a protest on the steps of Parliament in Ottawa is out of the question for the majority of Canadians. However, there are other “protests” that each and every one of us can indulge in, write letters to your MP’s (especially the opposition ones, and don’t forget to include the leader of the official opposition, Mr. Stephen Harper, advising them and him of your discontent with the ruling party, asking them to “force” an election right NOW). Maybe we can “protest” outside of Liberal riding offices (not sure how to put this one together, but I am sure there are Liberals MP’s sitting in Parliament in each and every major city in Canada, and the best time to protest outside of their offices is on the weekend when they have come home to see what the people have to say, and we the people are not having to earn a living).

Citizens of Canada, the time has come to rise up and get rid of the Liberal party, they have outlived their usefulness

I will now step off my soap box and give it to someone else to run with, however I wanted to add a bit of humour first, I ran this post through “spell-check” and much to my shock, this post is written to a grade 12 comprehension level, obviously it is not being written for the people of Ontario.

More on the Gomery inquiry

A FEW INTERESTING THOUGHTS FOR THE MORNING

The Gomery Inquiry is still being discussed at length, and I for one think that this is a good thing. Keep the scandal in the public’s eye, and hopefully we can boot the criminals Liberals out of office, the sooner the better as far as I am concerned.

In driving around the neighbourhood in the last few days, I am seeing a lot of signs about saving a school, while I am not suggesting that this is not something of importance, I wonder where the protests about the biggest scandal in Canadian Political history are. I know that I have posted about it, I know that a whole lot of other bloggers have posted about it, I know that the newspapers are reporting about it, but there still seems to be something missing. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of talk about it out on the street, or maybe I am just hanging around the wrong street corners.

There is some musings over the RCMP doing the investigations into who and how much. The musing seems to centre around the fact that the RCMP are implicated in the “laundering” scheme as well. If WE the Canadian public are truly interested in getting to the bottom of this scandal, then maybe WE the people should be letting our government and the opposition, (because we hope that they are going to form the next government), know that we want a truly “independent” investigation. We want Interpol or Scotland Yard to come in and perform the investigation.

A site that I found recently has the information to write, email, and fax your Member of Parliament and point out that you are fed up with the corruption of our Government and want it to end, the url is: http://www.tribil.com/

Visit the site and write to your MP and all others and inform them how upset you are with the government.

Hells Angels anybody?

THE BAN HAS BEEN LIFTED

The publication ban has been lifted so we can all read about the allegations of corruption of the Federal Liberal Party from the Gomere Inquiry. No I am not going to get into the juicy details, there are already way too many places where you can read all about it, up to and including all the major newspapers. I am going to quote from an article from the Hell’s Angels Toronto Chapter page, which I think says it all.

“Hells angels find it ironic

The government of Canada has found it absolutely acceptable to enact laws that make Guilty by Association the law. They are currently in a bid to label every member of the Ontario Hells Angels Motorcycle club a criminal, based on the already punished behaviour of other Hells Angels in other Provinces. Yet when members of the Liberal party are accused of demanding kickbacks and payola for government contracts totalling hundreds of millions of Canadian tax dollars, the Prime Minister says it’s wrong to blame the entire party for the actions of a few. It’s not only a double standard that makes a mockery of equal justice for all, but it exposes the practice of targeting groups with unjust laws for political gain.

The courts in this country should be about Equal Justice, Not just us”

I am not saying or inferring that the Hells Angels are not entitled to their opinion, nor that they are not the most law abiding citizens of the land, I find it *interesting* that even they have been keeping tabs on the Gomery Inquiry and are appalled at the levels of corruption coming out of the inquiry.

What a bunch of cry babies

Fuckin Liberal crybabies, you got your dicks caught in the door to the vault and now you expect us to believe that you are the victims? What a load of horse shit!!!

Have the balls to stand up and say hell yes I did it! and further I am proud of what I have done! You still won't get my vote or any sympathy (and for your knowledge, if you're looking for sympathy, look in the dictionary between shit and syphlis), but I will be proud of you for at least admitting what you did wrong.

We the blogging community of Canada may not be able to openly blog about the damaging testimony, but we sure as hell know what it's about, and we are pissed!!! And when we meet somewhere for a coffee, guess what we are all talking about?

Considering that the ban is in place to try and give the guilty accused a fair trial, a person would have to be dead or really just not interested in politics to not be outraged at the extent of the corruption and not know that it has happened, or I guess more precisely, they would have to be from Eastern Canada and still have their heads up their asses from having voted the Liberals in to power in the last Federal Election. Is that really who you want to be the jurors for these trials? Or for that matter, where in Canada do you really think that these guilty son's of bitch's accused are going to get a fair trial?

And what about the citizens of Quebec, they are the ones that should be totally outraged and taking up arms to get rid of this menace called the Liberals, but not to put words in their mouths, I will leave it up to them to decide how to procede from here.

The New Liberal song

It’s the end of the world, as we know it

And I feel fine (words and music by REM)

This should be the new song for the Liberals, and lets hope it is.

Like a few others, I spent this weekend looking for and finding information about the publication ban from the Gomery inquiry into the Ad-Scam scandal, no, I’m not brave enough to publish what I have found out, but what I found has so outraged me on multiple levels that it took a long time for me to sort through all the information and get to the point where I am ready to post my thoughts.

If what was posted by a few U.S. sites about the inquiry is correct, then I am interested in finding out just how far the “corruption” in and with the Liberal party goes. Does it rise to the top; is PM [squared] guilty as the rest of them?  Will he and the rest of the Liberal party be subject to prosecution? Will some one with big enough balls charge the whole of the Liberal party and force them into oblivion? Strong words maybe, but this is not just a “slap on the wrist” infraction. No, this is, (and this is where I am still confused, I am not a lawyer) so not sure of what charges should be laid against the Liberal party, but money laundering, racketeering and tax evasion, and maybe even violations of the electoral contributors act come to mind to name just a few.

That is one part of the outrage that I feel right now, I am also still outraged at the “BAFFOONS” in Eastern Canada, and others that voted for these criminals to return them to power, (see previous post).

Could you not have given “the other guy” a chance, maybe we could see what he was made of? Give your heads a shake people and smell the coffee, it time to get your heads out of your Asses.

Another part of the outrage I am feeling right now is for “my Separatist brothers and sisters” in Quebec, who should feel like they have been used and abused by the Liberals for their own gain. The sponsorship idea that the Liberals started this whole thing with was to convince Quebecers that staying in Canada was in their best interest, and the Liberals even did a real good job of selling this idea to the rest of Canada. To the point that the rest of Canada was probably “good” with the idea of the government spending this money to convince them, the Quebecers, and any others that were going to promote separation, to stay in Confederation.

The publication ban on the testimony of Mr. Brault prohibit me from going further with this thought, with out risking the ire of the Judiciary, and I am not prepared to risk that right now, but lets just say that money that should have gone to promote Canada, through the ad agencies in question, didn’t get used for that purpose. I think that the people of Quebec have the right to be insulted with this turn of events, and should go hard-core with promoting their idea of an independent nation. I am right behind you brothers and sisters, just let me know what I can do to help you achieve your goals!

Further to the reading that I did this weekend looking for the juicy details from the inquiry, came a few thoughts from Americans, again it is difficult for me to pursue this train of thought due to the ban, but here we go anyway.  From

debbyestratigacos

Apr. 3 - Imagine the outcry had the Watergate hearings been placed under a publication ban because some of those named faced criminal proceedings. It's a testimony to the American character that we conduct open reviews of scandals like Watergate and the Iran-Contra hearings even though it provides our enemies with a great deal of ammunition -- more than a lesser people could tolerate.

Canada put testimony in the Gomery Commission behind such a ban with nary a blush, piously citing privacy and legal concerns and knowing that the media outcry would rapidly subside as journalists shrug because it's the kind of repression they've come to expect but which they rarely name.

But make no mistake: the media blackout is repression of a free press and in too many ways exposes what is wrong with Canada.

That is one of the comments that caught my attention over the weekend, another comment that caused me to stop and think was about how the Americans were almost taking up arms over the Iran Contra affair, and they were only talking about a measly 100 million dollars US. Here we are talking about a quarter of a Billion dollars, yes folks that is correct, a quarter of a Billion, with a B. Which when converted into US dollars works out to be just under 206 Million US, and here in Canada, we are sitting back like it is nothing.

The people of Kyrgstan protested their corrupt government and forced an election, and I somehow don’t think that they were talking about this amount of money or level of corruption, but once again we’ll have to wait till the publication ban is lifted to find out for sure how bad the corruption is.

It is time for the citizens of Canada to ask for, no wait, DEMAND, accountability from our elected officials amongst other things. It is high time for reform of how our government works and to determine exactly what the business of government should be.

I TOLD YOU SO

As much as I hate to say I told you so, I TOLD YOU SO........

Woke up this morning and went looking around for information about the pope and his condition, and it seems like nothing has changed with regards to the pope, he is still hanging on. Our prayers are with him.

Started to look at some regular reads and it seems that the Gomrey inquiry into the Ad-Scam has come out with a publication ban on some of the testimony given by some of the "accused", due to a fear that they may not get a "fair" criminal trial later in the year.

Political parties are gearing up for a spring election due to the fear that once this ban is lifted, there will be a vote of non confidence of the government sending us back to the polls.

If you "BAFFOONS" in the East had done the right thing and not elected the criminals Liberals in the first place, we wouldn't be in this mess.  With the thought of another election hanging over our heads, are you going to do the right thing and give someone else a chance?

Maybe Stephen Harper is too young looking, maybe he is too boyish looking. But maybe, just maybe he has some ideas that need to be given a chance, lets run them up the flag pole and see if they can fly.

Maybe the best thing that we can do is to have "electoral reform". Maybe we need to share the power across the whole of the country and not just have the East decide who our next government is going to be.

Maybe it is time for you Easterners to get your heads out of your asses.
