An enviromental rant
I was watching TV yesterday, it was a show about the New York subway system, about how good it is, how big it is, you know the usual American bullshit. The subway cars have a life expectancy of, if memory serves me, 25 years. Over that time frame they will have new motors, and wheels put in to them every 3-4 years. And you would think that with all the talk of recycling and concerns for the environment, that the cars would be taken apart and melted down to make “new things", once their usefulness had expired, BUT no, they are taken off the coast of North Carolina, again if memory serves me, and dropped into the ocean, to form new reefs.
I am not a tree-hugging environmentalist, just a concerned citizen, who tries to do what I can at home here, and this just boggles the mind. Why do I have my government trying to sell me on the one tonne challenge, when this kind of thing is going on?

The 4 R's - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Reef-building.
