This morning I have spent some time reading blogs, blogs that are saying the same thing, blogs that are crying out that our Liberal Government is corrupt, blogs complaining about Belinda Stronach, Chuck Cadman, Carolyn Parrish, to name a few, blogs that are complaining about taping conversations about vote buying, blogs complaining about money laundering through the RCMP. You get the picture, we are all saying the same thing, we leave comments on each others blogs to show we have been there and to pump up the numbers, and to some, that is important.
I am not sure that the leaders of our country are listening, I am not sure that they care about what is being written about them, though I did read that Andrew Coyne is being sued, and his posts have supposedly been removed, so if you are going to write about our leaders, be careful what you say and how you say it.
Our freedoms are being taken away from us, and like sheep, we don't say anything and go merrily on our way. Big brother is taking care of us, or we do say something, and it is on our blogs, and we visit other blogs and leave comments to say we have been there and we agree with what we have read, and then we go back to our blogs and link to what we have just read with a new post, and so it goes, round and round, and all the while, our leaders just continue doing what they want.
Ask yourself, and be honest with your answers,
What am I doing to prevent this from continuing?
What am I willing to do to stop this?
Am I willing to start writing letters to my PM, MP, MLA demanding change?
Am I willing to volunteer to help with the next political campaign? (whenever that is)
I too am asking myself these questions, I have written letters to all of the above, and to my premier, I have become involved in a political party (Separation Party of Alberta), I am out trying to recruit new members, I am helping out with meetings, running the party and setting policies.
This morning sitting here, reading blogs, I have come to the conclusion that I am not doing enough, I am feeling frustrated, pissed off, angry, and a host of other feelings. I am going to double my actions to change things in this country/province.
Is Separation the answer, I really don't know, but it is something. I have always maintained that the first step in changing things is to get the attention of the other guy, make him aware that his actions are questionable, and not what is needed in the present situation.
Electoral reform is long overdue in this country, one half of this country can not keep electing a government and forcing the other half to accept their choices, further to this end, we have to change the way the house operates, just because a bill is defeated, shouldn't mean that the government is defeated as well. The bill in questions should be referred back to comitee to be reworked.
The speaker of the house needs more powers to control the members, and the ability to vote with intelligence, not just based on precedent (like we have just seen happen). The other person who needs to have their powers reworked is the Govenor General, they are supposedly the representative of the Queen/King, not a puppet for the ruling party with no powers, act with intellegence, if the ruling party has lost the confidence of the house (which is supposed to be a representation of the people), then it is time for the GG to get involved and force either a change in government, or to call an election.
We as Canadians need to become more involved with the way our government operates, we need to say that we won't stand for corruption, and foolishness.
The time for action is upon us.
What are you willing to do to change things?
